Vol. 318 No. 5

Written Answers. - House Improvement Grants.

72.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for the Environment the number of house improvement grants, and the amount of such grants, in each housing authority area in the year 1979.

As statistics of grant payments are not kept by reference to housing authority areas, the information is not available in the form requested by the Deputy. However, figures are available for the number and amount of house improvement grants for each county. The information is in the form of a tabular statement which I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

Notes:

(1) The above include the special grants to reduce dependence on oil, essential repairs and disabled persons grants but do not include grants paid for the installation of water and/or sewerage services.

(2) The figures for each county include grants paid for houses located in any county borough, borough, urban district council or town commissioners area within the county.

80.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons a home improvement grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

Before payment of the approved grant of £600 can be made, a further inspection and investigation of the applicant's eligibility is required. This will be carried out as soon as possible.
