asked the Minister for Education in relation to Vote 32 sub-headings A and H.1. in the Estimates for the Public Service: (i) the number of extra teachers to be recruited net of retirements; (ii) the amount allowed in respect of (a) national pay agreements and (b) pay review tribunal recommendations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Provision has been made in the Vocational Education Vote of the Estimates for the Public Service 1980 subheads A and H.1. for the recruitment of 132 and 25 additional teaching staff respectively.

Sums of £6,841,600 and £1,391,100 have been allowed in respect of the national wage agreements under subheads A and H.1. respectively.

The Review Body on Teachers Pay had not been established at the date of preparation of the Estimate.

asked the Minister for Education in relation to Vote 31 of the Estimates for the Public Service sub-headings B and H.1.: (i) the number of extra teachers to be recruited net of retirements; (ii) the amount allowed in respect of (a) national pay agreements and (b) pay review tribunal recommendations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Provision has been made in the Secondary Education Vote of the Estimates for the Public Service 1980, subheads B and H.1. for the recruitment of 200 and 150 additional teachers, respectively. Sums of £10,530,500 and £1,839,200 have been allowed in respect of the national wage agreements under subhead B and H.1 respectively.

The Review Body on Teachers' Pay had not been established at the date of preparation of the Estimates.

asked the Minister for Education in relation to Vote 30 of the Estimates for the Public Service subheading C.1 in which expenditure has increased from £116,178,000 to £137,410,000: (i) the number of extra national teachers to be recruited net of retirements; (ii) the amount allowed in respect of (a) national pay agreements and (b) pay review tribunal recommendations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Provision has been made in the Primary Education Vote of the Estimates for the Public Service 1980, subhead C.1, for the recruitment of 600 additional national school teachers.

A sum of £18,190,000 has been allowed in respect of national wage agreements.

The Review Body on Teachers' Pay had not been established at the date of preparation of the Estimates.
