Vol. 318 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway School.

7.

asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the long delay in the completion of New Inn national school, County Galway and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am satisfied with the progress achieved by the contractor who is building the extension to this school. The work is taking a little longer than expected due to inclement weather, to delay in the delivery of certain materials, to unfavourable sub-soil conditions and to the need to carry out some additional works.

Is the Minister aware that I am informed by a reliable source that the reason for the delay is that the Minister is waiting for imported timber for the roof?

I gave the Deputy the reasons for the delays.

Inclement weather— it was the best season we had for a long time.

Is imported timber being used to roof the school?

Is Irish timber being used?

I will check that out.

I am informed that the Minister is waiting for imported timber to roof the school.

This is information.

Irish timber is supposed to be used.

The Minister was not asked about timber.

What is the reason for the delay?

(Interruptions.)

Order. Questions are being asked that have already been answered.
