Vol. 318 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - AnCO Training Centre Site.

2.

asked the Minister for Labour if, in view of AnCO's expressed objective of securing a central city site for a training centre, he will advise AnCO to acquire the site of the former Goulding fertilizer factory, Dublin.

AnCO have inspected the site mentioned, but have found it unsuitable.

Is there any indication as to why AnCO found the site unsuitable and is there any possibility that the site could be made suitable subject to certain expenditure?

I would leave the decision in that regard to the technical and professional advice available to AnCO rather than take a decision and direct them to purchase what they have informed me is an unsuitable site. I would question also whether from the public Exchequer point of view it would be a good idea for me to act in that way.

Can the Minister say whether AnCO are still looking for a suitable site in the city centre?

They are looking at other sites, but the Deputy will appreciate that it would not be advisable for me to say where these locations are.
