Vol. 318 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Cork Dispensary Service.

342.

asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the need for a dispensary service at Castletownshend, Skibbereen, County Cork and if he will ensure that this service will be provided.

Since the general medical service was reorganised in 1972 to give persons covered by medical cards the greatest practicable choice of doctor no further dispensary doctors have been appointed. The Castletownshend area is now served from Skibbereen where there are five doctors participating in the general medical service. I have received no complaints about the service provided by these doctors. The surgery at present being used in Castletownshend is not up to the standard the health board would like but its replacement must be considered in the light of the board's priorities.
