Vol. 318 No. 9

Written Answers. - Plumbing Examination.

324.

asked the Minister for Education if his attention has been drawn to the dissatisfaction of those concerned that only three candidates passed the recent junior trades examination in plumbing held in Bolton Street College of Technology, Dublin, and if he will arrange for the practical part of the examination to be re-marked or held again.

I assume that the examination referred to is the 1979 summer examination for both block release and day release candidates. I understand that the college considered the failure rate of the day release candidates to be unusually high. The results achieved by the 18 block release candidates in the same examination, however, were up to the standard of previous years, as were the results obtained by both categories of candidates in the other colleges involved. My Department are prepared to consider applications from any of the candidates in question who may wish to be reexamined in the junior trades examination in plumbing in the summer of 1980.
