Vol. 318 No. 11

Written Answers. - Lead Emissions.

17.

asked the Minister for Health if his Department have carried out a scientific investigation into the level of lead emitted as a result of fuel combustion in Dublin and other built-up areas and if he has satisfied himself that this does not constitute a health hazard.

My Department have not carried out any such investigation. I am aware, however, that ambient air is monitored for Dublin Corporation for lead in Dublin city and suburbs. The level of lead in the air at present is not regarded as a health hazard. I would draw the attention of the Deputy to replies by the Minister for the Environment to similar questions on 6 December last, Official Report, Volume 317, columns 1181-4.
