Vol. 319 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Waterford Single Woman's Allowance.

156.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will reconsider the decision refusing a single woman's allowance to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

The application of the person concerned for a single woman's allowance was disallowed on the grounds that her weekly means derived from the value of board and lodging on her brother's farm exceeded the statutory limit for entitlement. In accordance with the recent budgetary proposals the statutory limit for entitlement to the allowance is being raised from 3 April which will result in an entitlement to a reduced weekly allowance in this case. I have also arranged that the case be reviewed in its entirety at that date.
