asked the Minister for the Environment the financial allocations to each county council and corporation area in 1979 and 1980 in respect of:—(a) roads, (b) water and sewerage schemes, (c) local authority housing construction and the percentage increase for 1980 in each case.
Written Answers. - Local Authorities Allocations.
The information sought in regard to grants for road works is given in tabular statement No. 1 which follows.
Statement No. 2 gives details of the allocations to each county council and county borough corporation for local authority housing construction in 1979 and 1980. Since, as explained in the notes to the statement, the figures are not directly comparable, a percentage variation as between the two years is not shown.
I expect to be in a position shortly to notify local authorities of their allocations for water and sewerage schemes for 1980. When this has been done, I will let the Deputy have the information he has requested in relation to the allocation for the schemes.

Note: The allocations include, not merely the normal provisions for road maintenance and road improvement, but also special provisions for specific major works, activity on which in a particular local authority area can vary from year to year.

Note 1: The figures for 1979 are the sum of all allocations notified to the authorities in 1979 including additional allocations notified in anticipation of savings in some areas.
Note 2: The figures for 1980, excepting those for Dublin Corporation and Dublin County Council, are allocations for existing contractual commitments and new work started by 14 March 1980. The allocations to Dublin Corporation and Dublin County Council are the full allocations for the year for all works.
