Vol. 319 No. 4

Written Answers. - Headage Grant.

189.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason a headage grant has not been paid to a farmer (details supplied) in County Cork.

It was necessary to make certain inquiries in order to determine this herdowner's entitlement under the cattle headage payments scheme. These inquiries are nearing completion and a decision on the question of payment of grants can then be made.

191.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if, in view of the fact that investigations are going on into the allocation of the Cork County Committee of Agriculture scholarships, scholarships will be awarded for 1980.

Arrangements for the granting of scholarships tenable at agricultural colleges in 1980-81 are being proceeded with in the normal way and my Department have written to county committees of agriculture setting out the approved procedure to be followed. While the award of these scholarships has been and still is a function of the county committees, this function will be transferred to An Chomhairle Oiliúna Talmhaíochta when the staff of the committees is transferred to An Chomhairle within the next few months.
