Vol. 319 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Signs.

22.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for the Environment if he will bring to the attention of all road authorities the fact that many road signs are either broken or incorrectly directed and request them to have these defects rectified.

In notifying road authorities of road grant allocations for 1980, attention has again been directed to the provision and maintenance of road traffic signs. Road authorities are from time to time reminded by special communications of the need to rectify deficiencies in the condition of signs. Most recently, city and county managers were asked on 6 March to have the standard of road maintenance in their areas, which includes the standard of signs and markings, specially examined.
