Vol. 319 No. 9

Written Answers. - Killenaule (Tipperary) Fire Service.

302.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make a financial allocation to South Tipperary County Council for the provision of a modern fire service at Killenaule, County Tipperary.

The cost of operating the fire service is met entirely by local authorities from current revenue. In so far as capital expenditure on the service is concerned, borrowing proposals for specific projects are submitted for my approval by local authorities. The question of my making a financial allocation in respect of the provision of the service in a particular area does not therefore arise. I should add that there are no borrowing proposals for fire service purposes from Tipperary SR County Council at present before my Department.
