Vol. 319 No. 11

Written Answers. - Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin.

149.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has satisfied himself with the conditions in Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin, if the promised inquiries to improve the situation have taken place and if he will make a statement in the matter.

Improvement works to Glasnevin Cemetry costing approximately £120,000 have been carried out by Dublin Corporation under the environmental improvement schemes programme in the years 1978 and 1979 on behalf of the Dublin Cemeteries Committee. These works included the making and surfacing of pathways and the general levelling and tidying-up of the cemetery grounds. These works have to a large extent alleviated the unsatisfactory conditions which prevailed up to 1978 and as far as I am aware no complaints in regard to the state of the cemetery have been received since that year.
