Vol. 320 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fodder Grants.

57.

Mr. Burke

asked the Minister for Agriculture the number of applications received from (i) County Roscommon and (ii) other counties covered by the scheme for group fodder grants in (a) 1978, (b) 1979, (c) 1980, and the number paid in each year.

The number of approved applications received from County Roscommon in the 1977-78 and 1978-79 seasons were 269 and 295 respectively. The corresponding figures for the other counties covered by the scheme were 3,313 and 4,149 respectively.

The number of grants paid under the scheme in County Roscommon in the 1977-78 and 1978-79 seasons were 241 and 481 respectively. The corresponding figures for the other counties were 2,893 and 2,871 respectively.

Figures for the 1979-80 season are not yet available.

Grants are paid when there is evidence that the machinery is being satisfactorily used by the group for the purposes for which it is intended. This will normally be at the end of the fodder-making season.

Question No. 58 for written reply.
