asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs in relation to the (i) Dargle Wood and (ii) Ashton Estates, Dublin 16, (a) the number of applicants for telephones; (b) the up-to-date estimate of the date on which all outstanding applicants will be connected; (c) the date of the earliest and latest applications for service; (d) the reasons for the delay in supplying both cabling and equipment for service; (e) whether any applicants will be connected on a priority basis; (f) if so, the number of such applicants; (g) when they will be connected; and (h) the number of applicants in each priority category and the heading or description of each such category.

(a) (i) about 120; (ii) about 100. (b) Second half of 1981 in both areas. (c) (i) August 1976 and April 1980; (ii) April 1976 and January 1980. (d) The heavy volume of cabling schemes for housing and industrial estates and other urgent engineering work requiring attention in the Dublin area which was seriously set back by industrial action within the Department in 1978 and 1979, and difficulties in acquiring a site and delays in having the building for the telephone exchange completed. (e) Yes. (f) (i) 38; (ii) 47. (g) About half of those at Dargle Wood and the great majority of those at Ashton Wood will be offered service following the completion of cabling works in about two months; the remaining applications concerned will be met when additional exchange equipment is installed about mid-1981. (h) (i) Four doctors, two business applicants and 32 applicants for removal of service; (ii) one doctor, and 46 applicants for removal of service.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Arrangements to provide service within the next month are already in train.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the location of all manual operated telephone exchanges in County Meath and when it is proposed to change each exchange to the automatic system.
