There are no grants available from my Department specifically for this purpose. Local authorities have, however, powers under local government legislation to provide or to assist in the provision of facilities for games and recreation in their areas. Allocations from the moneys provided in the Vote for my Department in respect of environment works can be used by local authorities to defray the cost of such facilities. The moneys provided for the current year have, however, been fully allocated.
