Vol. 321 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Corporation Boundary.

6.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will exercise his statutory function in relation to the petition of the Limerick Corporation submitted in 1974 for an extension of its borough boundary.

Since the petition by Limerick Corporation to extend the area of Limerick city into County Limerick and County Clare was received efforts have been made, through, amongst others, the Mid-West Regional Development Organisation, to obtain some measure of agreement between the three local authorities on the proposed extension. These efforts have, to date, been unsuccessful. However, I do not wish to initiate a public inquiry into the proposed extension, that could be very costly and of long duration, without trying to get some measure of agreement beforehand. Further efforts in this regard are being considered.
