Vol. 321 No. 4

VOTE NO. 40: LANDS.

I move:

That a sum not exceeding £9,852,000 be granted to defray the charges which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of December, 1980, for the salaries and expenses of the Irish Land Commission, including certain grants-in-aid.

I should like to ask the Minister when he expects to be in a position to present the heads of the Land Bill to the Government?

I referred in my opening and closing addresses to the fact that this matter is being seriously considered. I stressed the importance of the matter and my anxiety to ensure that what we do is the correct thing. I cannot put any definite date on when the heads of the Bill will be sent to the Government but, as the Deputy is aware, a memorandum must go to the Government before the heads of a Bill. I hope to have that done in the not too distant future.

Vote put and agreed to.
The Dáil adjourned at 4.30 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday, 27 May 1980.
