asked the Minister for Agriculture the breakdown by breed of the 120 bulls now being progeny tested, together with a breakdown as to whether such bulls are being tested primarily for (a) dairy or (b) beef characteristics.

One hundred and forty-six bulls are at present being progeny tested. The breeds are as follows:

All of the Friesian bulls are tested for milk characteristics. In addition, the beefing qualities of 68 of these animals are being assessed. The remaining breeds are being tested for beef characteristics.
