asked the Minister for Social Welfare when payment of a social insurance claim will issue to a person (details supplied) in Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Dublin Social Insurance Claim.
The person concerned claimed occupational injury benefit from 24 October 1978 to 5 February 1979 in respect of an accident at work. Pending a decision of his claim he was paid disability benefit. When his claim for injury benefit was admitted an adjustment cheque for £99.15 in respect of injury benefit due to 11 December 1978 was issued to him on 20 December 1978.
He subsequently reported non-receipt of this cheque. It was, however, returned by the bank as cashed bearing an endorsement in his name. Inquiries made by a departmental inspector to ascertain who in fact did receive and negotiate it having failed, the matter was referred to the Garda authorities for investigation and a report on the result of inquiries is awaited.
A replacement cheque for £99.15, the amount involved, was issued to the claimant on 27 May 1980.
