asked the Taoiseach the average price of the following items in (a) June 1977 and (b) June, 1980 or the nearest available date; (i) a pint of beer and stout in a Dublin public bar; (ii) a gallon of grade 1 petrol; (iii) 20 untipped cigarettes; (iv) a glass of whiskey; (v) a colour television; (vi) a local telephone call; (vii) postal charges for internal letters and (viii) bus fares to Dublin city centre from each of the following: Ballyfermot, Inchicore, Bluebell and Drimnagh, Dublin.

The information requested on average prices is given below in so far as it is available. For certain items only percentage changes in the national price levels derived from the Consumer Price Index can be provided for the period mid-May 1977 to mid-May 1980.
