Vol. 322 No. 10

Written Answers. - Mentally Handicapped Services.

153.

asked the Minister for Health the action he intends taking to improve services for the mentally handicapped following the publication of the report of the special working party on services for the mentally handicapped.

Generally speaking the report of the working party confirms the present policies of my Department in developing and improving services for the mentally handicapped. It will be my intention to continue to implement the various recommendations in association with the health boards and the many voluntary agencies who provide the services.

Copies of the report have been circulated to the health boards and to those voluntary agencies and my Department will be discussing the report with the boards and agencies in the coming months to ensure that progress in improving the services for the mentally handicapped is maintained.
