Vol. 322 No. 10

Written Answers. - Aer Lingus Cardiff Service.

238.

asked the Minister for Transport the date on which Aer Lingus withdrew from its services to Cardiff; and the improvement expected in its finances as a result of the withdrawal.

Aer Lingus withdrew services to Cardiff on 31 March 1979.

The route was uneconomic and the withdrawal was part of a comprehensive plan to realign services on cross-Channel and Continental routes. The overall effect of this realignment was an improvement in the company's finances. It is not possible, however, to put a specific figure on the savings from a particular route as costs are allocated over the complete range of routes.
