Vol. 323 No. 4

Written Answers . - EEC Agricultural Scheme .

344.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason for the delay in launching the £150, million EEC scheme for improving agricultural structures in the west of Ireland.

: The increased aids for marketing and processing projects in the west of Ireland are already in operation but before the other measures in the package can be introduced, an outline programme giving in detail the actions preposed must be submitted to and approved by the EEC Commission following consultation with the EEC Committee on Agricultural Structures. Interested organisations are being consulted on the content of the programme which is being prepared by the Department at present. The programme will be submitted to the Commission shortly.
