Written Answers . - Lost Tax Revenues .

348.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will provide an estimate of the total amount of lost tax revenues arising from the granting of capital allowances, stock allowances, export sales relief, etc. to industry over the past ten years.

: Statistics relating to these allowances are not compiled in such a manner as would enable the information requested by the Deputy to be given. However the latest data available indicate that the cost of such allowances for the last five years is in the region of—1975/76, £58 million; 1976/77, £63 million; 1977/78, £86 million; 1978/79, £118 million; 1979/80, £164 million.
