asked the Minister for Education if he will list the number of advisory bodies set up by his Department and give details of the activities of these bodies and the budgetary provisions for each of them.

: The fourth Irish National Commission for UNESCO was establised in 1978. The terms of reference of the Commission are as follows:—

(i) To advise the Minister for Education in matters relating to UNESCO:

(ii) To co-operate by all suitable means in the implementation of the programme of UNESCO in Ireland;

(iii) To foster interest in the promotion of international collaboration through Education, Science and Culture.

The financial provision for the Irish National Commission for UNESCO and UNESCO Activities in Ireland in 1980 was £127,000.

Cospóir, the National Sports Council, was established in 1978. The Council acts as Adviser to the Minister of State at the Department of Education in relation to the implementation of the Government's policy on `Sport For All' and promotes initiatives and innovative measures in regard to

(a) the development of sport and physical recreation as leisure pursuits and

(b) the raising of standards of performance in competitive sport.

The amount made available by the Department of Education to Cospóir in 1980 to conduct its activities was £135,000.

Advisory Council on Post Primary Accommodation in the Greater Dublin Area. This council was set up to advise the Minister on the post-primary accommodation needs of the greater Dublin area. The Council does not have responsibility for disbursing any State funds.
