asked the Minister for Education when he proposes to sanction the erection of a new national school at Ballinameela, Cappagh, County Waterford, to replace the present school which is in poor general condition, includes two dilapidated pre-fabs, has no playing facilities available and has 134 pupils in attendance.

38.

asked the Minister for Education when he proposes to sanction the erection of a new national school at Aglish, Cappoquin, County Waterford, to replace the pre-fabs which constitute the present school, which are in a dilapidated condition and which cater for 74 pupils.

: With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 37 and 38 together.

The general question as to how the primary school needs of the two areas mentioned by the Deputy might best be met is under consideration by my Department. A report from the inspector in the matter is awaited.

: Does the Minister consider that the conditions outlined in the question are deplorable and should be rectified as soon as possible?

: I agree totally with the Deputy.

: Will the Minister let me have a copy of the inspector's report as soon as any documentation comes to hand?

: I will keep the Deputy apprised of developments in the situation.
