The rates of grants payable to voluntary secondary schools are subject to annual review in the context of the preparation of the annual Estimates for the educational services. The next review of the existing level of the grant in lieu of fees will take place in connection with decisions on the relevant Estimates for 1981.
Has the Minister received representations from the secretaries of secondary schools seeking substantial grant increases? Does he wish now to state if he will accede to these wishes?
The Minister received representations from all sectors of our education system for increased grants. As I said in my reply, when the relevant Estimates for 1981 are under consideration we shall take these representations into account.
