Written Answers. - Forest Workers' Pensions.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the highest and lowest occupational pensions at present in payment to two former forest workers indicating the following details: (a) service, (b) retiring pay, (c) added service, if any, (d) gratuity and (e) any other significant factor.

The highest and the lowest occupational pensions being paid at present to two former forest workers are set out in the following table.

1. The highest occupational pension being paid at present to a forest worker amounts to £1,301.16 per annum with effect from 1 July 1980. The details are as follows: (a) 40 years reckonable service; (b) Pensionable remuneration on retirement amounted to £2,667.42; (c) No added service; (d) Gratuity amounted to £2,913.45; (e) When pension was originally calculated in July 1977 it amounted to £632.40 per annum.

2. The lowest occupational pension being paid at present amounts to £170.52 per annum with effect from 1 July 1980. The details are as follows: (a) 6 year 108 days reckonable service; (b) Pensionable remuneration on retirement amounted to £2,338.04; (c) No added service; (d) Gratuity amounted to £521.03; (e) When pension was originally calculated in November 1976 it amounted to £88.08 per annum.

The recipient in each of the above cases also qualifies for a pension under the Social Welfare Acts.
