Vol. 324 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin County Council's Accounts.

21.

asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of money Dublin County Council spent on works on property they had no legal title to, or did not own, in the years 1976 to date.

The accounts of Dublin County Council are subject to audit by the local government audit service and the auditor is required to examine every account audited by him and to disallow and strike out all payments, charges and allowances which are contrary to law or which he deems to be unfounded. In view of the fact that any person aggrieved by a decision of such a nature by the local government auditor has normally a right of appeal to me it would not be appropriate for me to comment further at this stage.
