Vol. 324 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Corporation Funds.

25.

asked the Minister for the Environment the extra State funds made available by his Department in respect of housing, roads and sanitary services to Waterford Corporation due to the quadrupling of the size of the city in January 1980; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Allocations to local authorities to finance the carrying out of infrastructural services are based on the programmes and proposals formulated by local authorities rather than on the size of the authority. In the allocations to Waterford Corporation a separate sum is not, therefore, identified as relating to any extension of the borough boundary. No doubt the corporation will formulate their future programmes and proposals in order to meet the needs of the extended area and these will be taken into account in the allocation of funds.
