Vol. 324 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Death.

36.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the circumstances of a tragic death which occurred in Dublin 4 on 1 October 1980 (details supplied); if a detailed inspection of the vehicle in question has been made; if the laws governing container traffic have been observed; if he has had representations from any organisations or persons regarding this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have seen the press report of this tragic accident. Investigation of the circumstances in which such accidents occur and any breaches of road traffic law, are matters for the Garda Síochána. I understand that such investigation is proceeding. Representations in the matter have been made by Deputy Sean Moore, Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach.
