Vol. 324 No. 9

Written Answers. - Army Purchase of Homes.

273.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will consider the introduction of a special scheme, utilising special house loans or other means, to facilitate the purchase of homes by members of the Army in view of the discouraging conditions at present existing in this respect arising from the involuntary mobility of their work.

The introduction of such a scheme is not contemplated. The provision of housing is primarily a matter for the local authorities and married soldiers have an equal claim on such housing with other members of the community in the same category.
