Vol. 325 No. 3

Written Answers. - Occupational Injuries Benefit.

224.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will avoid further delay in the issue of payment of occupational injuries benefit to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will arrange to pay all benefits due.

The person concerned claimed injury benefit under the occupational injuries scheme on 16 June 1980 in respect of an accident at work on 25 January 1980. The benefit due for the period 21 April 1980 to 28 June 1980 has been paid less supplementary benefit paid to the claimant by the Northern Ireland Department of Health and Social Services during that period.

The delay in authorising payment of injury benefit was due to the fact that inquiries were necessary to ascertain the cause of the claimant's incapacity.

The person concerned also claimed disability benefit in respect of the periods 7 to 30 September 1980 and 13 October 1980 to 8 November 1980. The amount due for these periods less supplementary benefit paid by the Northern Ireland Authorities has been issued.
