Development of small harbours in County Mayo is carried out on a continuing basis as part of a programme for the improvement of fishing ports and landing places along the coast. Substantial State aid has already been provided by my Department and the Department of the Gaeltacht for fishery harbour development in the county.
Grants have recently been offered by my Department to Mayo County Council towards the cost of eight harbour improvement schemes and proposals for improvements at 15 other harbours in County Mayo are at present under consideration.
