Vol. 325 No. 8

Written Answers. - Post Office Savings Account.

239.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reasons a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary has not yet received the sum of approximately £400 which was deposited in a Post Office savings account and bequeathed to him by his late mother who died on 1 July 1980.

The claim in this case was not received in my Department until the middle of October. The usual inquiries were then made to confirm the death of the depositor and the entitlement of the claiment to the balance in the account. A cheque for the funeral expenses was issued direct to the undertaker on the 5 December 1980 and a cheque for the balance due was sent to the claimant on the same date.
