Vol. 326 No. 1

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

377.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when telephone service, which has been interrupted for over a month, will be restored to a subscriber (details supplied) in Dublin.

Service will be restored within the next day or so.

378.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will give priority to the telephone application of a person (details supplied) in Dublin, in view of her and her husband's very advanced age; and if he will indicate when service may be provided.

Service for this applicant is dependent on the provision of cable which, because of the volume of engineering work on hands in the Dublin area at present, is unlikely to be carried out for at least another year.

379.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if telephone cables have been installed in phase 1 of the Pidgeon House road scheme in Ring-send, Dublin; if so, the number of cables available; and when the telephones will be connected.

Yes. There are enough cables available to meet all 29 existing applications. Service will be provided within the next six months or so for all of these.

380.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a person (details supplied) in Dublin will receive a transfer of telephone service.

It is expected that service will be provided within the next six months or so.

381.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware of the need for a public telephone kiosk at the pier in Union Hall, County Cork; and whether he will arrange for the provision of same.

The needs of the area are regarded as adequately met by the existing kiosk and the provision of an additional one is not regarded as warranted.

382.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in the installation of a telephone for applicants (details supplied) in South West Cork; and when the installation will be completed.

The original application was made in March 1977 and service was provided in May 1980. At that stage the applicant requested service at a new house nearby. Service will be provided at the new address within a month or so.

383.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when telephone service will be provided for an applicant (details supplied) in County Cork.

Because of the volume of engineering work on hands in the area it is likely to be at least a year before service will be provided for this applicant, who applied earlier this month.

384.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will erect a public telephone kiosk at Omey Island, Connemara, County Galway during 1981.

The use likely to be made of a kiosk at that location would not be sufficient to warrant its provision and it is not proposed therefore to provide one there.

385.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will provide a public telephone kiosk at Cloughbrack, County Galway, during 1981.

The needs of the area are regarded as adequately met by the existing kiosk and the provision of an additional one is not regarded as warranted.
