Allocation of Time: Motion.

I move:

That notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders and in the Resolution of the Dáil of 12th October, 1977 (as amended by the Resolution of 14th December, 1977) —

(i) the proceedings on the motion to be taken in Private Members' time today and on the amendment thereto, if not previously concluded, shall be brought to a conclusion at 8.30 p.m. by putting from the Chair forthwith and successively the Questions necessary to bring them to a conclusion; and the following arrangements shall apply in the debate:—

(a) the speech of the Member proposing the motion shall not exceed 40 minutes;

(b) the speech of the second speaker, who shall be a member of the Government, shall not exceed 30 minutes; and

(c) the speech of the third (and final) speaker, who shall be nominated by the Labour Party, shall not exceed 20 minutes; and

(ii) consideration of Government business shall not be interrupted tomorrow at the time fixed for the taking of Private Members' business.
