Vol. 326 No. 3

Written Answers. - Lough Corrib Bridge.

175.

asked the Minister for the Environment the progress made to date in relation to the provision of finance to build a bridge across Lough Corrib from Kilbeg to Knockferry, County Galway, since the matter was last raised in the House.

The road development plan for the eighties provides for a new bridge over the Corrib at Galway city at a cost of approximately £5 million. This would preclude, at least at this stage, the making of a special grant over and above the county council's block grant towards an additional bridge from Kilbeg to Knockferry, costing more than £2 million, which would link two county roads and be of limited benefit in the national context.
