Vol. 326 No. 3

Written Answers. - South West Cork Jobs.

216.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism the number of additional jobs provided in south-west Cork during 1980; the number of redundancies in the same period; and the additional jobs proposed for 1981.

In replying to the Deputy's question I have defined south-west Cork as that area comprehending the towns of Bantry, Bandon, Castletownbere, Clonakilty, Dunmanway, Kinsale, Schull and Skibbereen.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that there was a net increase of 33 in manufacturing employment in south-west Cork in 1980. During that year the IDA approved of 15 projects for the area with a combined job potential of 262. About one-third of these jobs are expected to be created in 1981.
