Vol. 326 No. 4

Written Answers. - Leaving Certificate Result Appeal.

213.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that a person (details supplied) in Dublin appealed in August 1980 against a leaving certificate mathematics result which was upheld in October 1980 but has not received to date a rebate of the £10.00 lodgment; when this will be repaid; if he is aware that the error in his Department has caused serious inconvenience to the person concerned, leaving him below the points required for his chosen profession which, when subsequently granted, was too late for him to enter the faculty of his choice; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The refund of the fee of £10 in respect of the successful appeal was sent to the school on 6 November 1980.

The result of the appeal was communicated to the school on 16 October 1980. The appeal was lodged in September 1980 and there was no avoidable delay in dealing with the matter in accordance with the general procedure for consideration of appeals made against the original marks awarded to some students.
