Vol. 326 No. 5

Written Answers. - Cashel (Tipperary) Unemployment.

192.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the very high level of unemployment in Cashel, County Tipperary; and if he will outline his plans to counter this unsatisfactory situation.

I am aware of the level of unemployment in the Cashel area. The area will benefit in terms of employment and otherwise from the Government's investment strategy for 1981 which provides, inter alia, for increased expenditure on road development in South Tipperary. Also, the Industrial Development Authority plan for the town group — Cahir, Cashel, Clonmel, Tipperary, Carrick-on-Suir and Fethard for the period 1978-82 has a target of 1,900 grant-aided jobs.
