The average State expenditure in the financial year 1979 per student in higher education, apart from expenditure arising from grants in accordance with the Local Authorities (Higher Education Grants) Act, was £1,343.
The average expenditure per student in the academic year 1979-80 in respect of grants in accordance with the Local Authorities (Higher Education Grants) Act was £716. This is in addition to the amount given in the first paragraph.
