Vol. 326 No. 6

Written Answers. - NBA Houses.

185.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will state in respect of the 1,910 houses built by the National Building Agency Ltd. under the Guaranteed Order Programme the number of houses which need (a) minor and (b) major structural work carried out.

I presume that the Deputy is referring to the 1,910 houses built by the National Building Agency for Dublin Corporation in South Finglas.

I have been informed by the agency that structural remedial work has been completed on all 346 houses in section 2 of this scheme. Of the 306 houses where defects were of a minor nature, 220 have been certified as being satisfactorily dealt with and work on the remaining 86 is being inspected. In the 40 houses where defects were of a more serious nature, all the necessary work has been completed and certified as satisfactory in 39 cases and the result of the inspection of the remaining house is awaited. It is expected that a composite certificate of approval of the work by the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards will be issued later this month.
