Vol. 326 No. 6

Written Answers. - Central Heating Thermostat Installation.

194.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware that builders, when installing oil-fired central heating systems in new houses, frequently omit to incorporate an inside thermostat, relying solely on the thermostat built into the boiler itself; and if in the interests of economy, he will make an order to make the provision of inside thermostats compulsory.

I am not so aware. There are, in any event, no powers in present legislation which would enable me to make an order along the lines requested.
