Vol. 326 No. 9

Written Answers. - Commission on Taxation Report.

44.

asked the Minister for Finance when the Commission on Taxation is expected to report to him; and if it will present an interim report.

I am not in a position to say when the Commission on Taxation are likely to submit a report to me. There is no time limit on the life of the commission and the completion of their work, dealing with all areas of taxation, will inevitably take time.

As I indicated in the Budget Statement the Government would welcome interim reports but it is for the commission to decide whether interim reports would be practicable.
