Vol. 326 No. 12

Ceisteanna — Questions Oral Answers - Security Cost.

11.

asked the Minister for Justice the cost to the State of providing security at a location (details supplied) in County Tipperary.

I assume that the question arises from a newspaper report alleging that a special Garda detail had been assigned to the place referred to and that uniformed men would patrol inside its boundaries.

The Garda authorities have informed me that these reports are seriously misleading and that, apart from the necessary Garda activity in relation to the investigation of the recent incident, no gardaí have been or are at present on duty at the place.

I am informed that the attention being given to the place is provided as part of the normal Garda service in conjunction with other Garda duties and involves no extra cost to the State.

The Storm Bird estate.

The Deputy should not base his questions on newspaper reports.
