Vol. 326 No. 12

Written Answers. - Entry To State.

4.

asked the Minister for Justice the reason for the delay in granting permission to a person (details supplied) to enter this country; and if he is aware that this person is married to an Irish citizen.

In this case there was the difficulty of deciding whether compassion should outweigh the clear indication that entry to this country ought to be refused the man in question, in respect of whom no evidence had been produced that he could support himself and his family. He had lived for ten years in Britain and was then ordered to leave that country. As it so happens, I have recently taken a decision to permit him to enter the State.
