Vol. 326 No. 12

Written Answers. - Pensions Transferability.

267.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if an EEC draft directive on the transferability of pensions has been published; if so, when; its present status; and his attitude towards it.

No EEC draft directive on the matter referred to has been published. However, under EEC Regulation No. 1408/71 of 14 June 1971, as amended, on the application of social security schemes to employed persons and their families moving within the Community, provision is made for the aggregation of periods of social insurance in the various member states for the purpose of social security pension entitlement where this would not otherwise be possible and for the payment of such pensions to beneficiaries regardless of their place of residence within the Community.
