Vol. 327 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Health Clinic Facilities.

290.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of complaints that the health clinic at the North Strand, Dublin, has very poor facilities particularly for mothers who have to bring children with them, that the clinic has no internal facilities to accommodate prams and that the front of the building and the waiting room area are in very bad condition; and whether there are any proposals to improve the present state of maintenance and repair of the building.

The North Strand Health Centre was broken into during the weekend of 18-19 October 1980 and extensive damage was done to the ground floor as a result of a fire. Some smoke and heat damage was done to the facade. This damage necessitated the transfer of services on a temporary basis from the ground floor to the first floor level.

Work to repair the fire damage and enable satisfactory conditions to be restored at the centre is being carried out at present.

When the repairs have been completed the services which, prior to the fire, were provided on the ground floor will again be carried out on that floor.

A pram bay, which is adjacent to the main building, has been provided for the parking of the prams used to convey infants to the health centre.
